The Vmoto APD project designed by Pininfarina triumphs at the Good Design Award 2024!
Between November and December, the 74th GOOD DESIGN jury met to select more than 1,100 projects from more than 55 countries around the world.
The Chicago Athenaeum has nominated five projects designed by Pininfarina and winners of the Good Design Award 2024, including the APD concept - Air Performance Design - Vmoto's 100% Electric Maxi Scooter. The Good Design Award is the most prestigious international award that recognizes the best designers each year for their efforts to create innovative, cutting-edge products. The design program is organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture in collaboration with the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
APD CONCEPT - Air Performance Design - 100% Electric, designed by Pininfarina for VMOTO, is an electric maxi scooter that combines aerodynamic efficiency and ecological design. In fact, the scooter has a strong horizontal development, emphasized by LED light friezes, ending in a truncated tail reminiscent of automotive Kammbacks, an expedient as much aerodynamic as aesthetic that Pininfarina has used in the past on some of its most famous designs, confirming its unique ability to combine style and aerodynamics. Aerodynamic study is a crucial design element, but not only that. In fact, APD Concept takes advantage of precise wind tunnel engineering to improve the dynamic performance of the electric vehicle. Reducing air impact has an immediate and tangible effect on battery life and e-mobility performance. In addition, air flows have been carefully channelized to keep the batteries and motor at a perfect controlled operating temperature, which preserve battery life and improve efficiency.

And it is the aerodynamics, studied in the wind tunnel that has given a unique style to the APD Vmoto ensuring maximum performance by adapting to air flows to cool the electric motor, maintain a constant battery temperature, and achieve maximum performance by reducing air friction. The news that the APD Design project has won the prestigious Good Design Award 2024 confirms our winning choice to have entrusted this important project to Pininfarina and makes us particularly proud to continue this important collaboration.”
